Around Calgary June 20th,2009

The good things about Calgary are:
1) Traffic is not too bad
2) In 30 minutes one can be out of the city and in the mountains

Lobster Tail

Today I made lobster tail for the first time. This has to be one of the easiest things to make. Basically you drop it in boiling salted water for 10-20 minutes and that's it!

The difficult part is preparing it for eating by making the right cuts.

I added butter, squeezed some lemon juice, freshly ground black pepper and sea salt and voila, it was ready.

Languages

My native language is Urdu. Very similar to Hindi. I can also speak Punjabi spoken in the Punjab province of Pakistan and also in India. English obviously. I can read Arabic but do not understand it! I can also read, write and speak limited Japanese. I would like to learn one more language. I came very close to learning German. I will update this post when I start to learn whichever new language it happens to be.

World Piece!

I have been thinking about writing a book: a science fiction. The perspective is from a alien from a far away galaxy very far along the evolutionary path. She arrives in an invisible space. The object is to end suffering and help the humans progress. This is where plot development comes along.

One version is that she send a 3D message that scrolls in front of every person in the world in their native language along with audio, "We come from very far away and would like to help. No sentient being should suffer. Tomorrow, a 6" diameter silver sphere will appear in front of every person in the world. Just tell it any thing you would like to eat and it will manipulate matter at the atomic level and the food will appear in front of you".

This will end world hunger but create problems for world economy.

The next step would be to end the wars and fighting in the world. The next message could be "All persons occupying foreign lands must return to their home countries in two weeks. We will help in transportation". It gets tricky here again. How do you to determine who has to leave. Once this has been worked out for all locations, arrows will appear on all aliens. She will not directly interfere, but for locals, individual defence shields will be activated by the silver spheres. Any weapons that comes close to this field will be turned into air. Aliens will not have this protection.

The next message could be "if 98% of the population agrees, new cities will be created and the functionality of the silver spheres will be expanded to create more items then just food, like clothes etc." This will again severely impact the world economy. Thousand story high buildings will be created, again by manipulating matter at atomic level. Each residence will appear to be at the top floor by making the building above invisible. All will have a garden in the back and a flying craft. No elevators. No roads but walking paths. Travel would be possible without restrictions between all cities like this but not with areas that have not come in the fold. Everyone would have the personal defence shield mentioned earlier. It would be impossible to commit crimes. All activities would be possible as long as the freedom of other people was not effected.

The final phase would be small areas where people would continue to live the current way but majority of human population would be living in around 50 or so mega cities in the world with a controlled environment. All cities will have parks, lakes, mountains etc. This way, other living beings in the world would get a chance to thrive. Animals would roam free once again and continue with the evolutionary process. Visits outside the cities would be regulated, so that the natural environment was not disturbed too much. Anyone who ventured outside the cities unplanned would have lose the services of the silver spheres.

All the power for the silver spheres would come from the Sun. The life of sun would be reduced by a few million years out of the billions years. Planet earth would also be protected from all external threats like asteroids or other hostile aliens. Since the silver spheres can create anything, the problem arises: how to motivate people to continue with developing science and technology. There woudl be no buisness activity: industry etc.

Please provide input to help develop the plot.
